Once you have the vendor drivers from what looks like the vendor web siteagain, the Canon web support is seemingly a mess herefind the package for your macOS version (if there is one available) download and install the driver package.

I contacted Canon customer support and they dont have nothing to say about this.

Why is that this new update has not been planned for customers Apparently I need to buy another printer that is compatible ready for this new update.

All that would need to happen is that you connect the printer to the same network as the macOS Catalina computer and then go into System PreferencesPrintersScanners click the symbol and select IP tab.

From here enter in the IP address that your printer is receiving.

You can get this from your router or the printer itself depending on your computer aptitude).

Click add and now you should be able to print to the device like before.

There is a MG2900 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver.16.20.0.0 (Mac) driver available, but I dont know if thats 32- or 64-bit.

Low-end and inexperience printers tend to fall off support the quickest, and Canon has seemingly not been good about keeping drivers and sales status information current.

The profusion of Canon and maybe-Canon-maybe-not web sites is confusing, too.

That printer support topped out at OS X 10.9 and Windows 8.1, per the published specs.

I tend to use departmental-grade Brother MFW-series printers, and particularly models that support AirPrint and IPPIPPS, and often also with telnet, and lprldp, and raw-port 9100 printing.

AirPrint and IPPIPPS support can mean simpler or no add-on drivers.

From some of the printer vendors, the departmental-grade printers tend to last longer and be supported longer, though are more costly to purchase.

Canon MX475 will now scan, although not connecting fully every time as I have to close and open the facility each time but definitely good progress has been made - especially for those like me with little technical knowledge.

Look up the specs for that printer using a web search engine (DuckDuckGo, Google, whatever) and see if the printer supports AirPrint andor IPPIPPS printing.

If the printer does support either of both of those, add-on drivers should not be needed for the printing functions.

If the printer does not support AirPrint or IPPIPPS printing, or if there are other functions supported within the device beyond printing, you may (will) need to find and download the drivers from the vendor.

Search for the correct and complete printer name, as listed on the printer por the printer documentation.

Do NOT abbreviate, do not shorten, do not edit the device name.

Canon is a bit of a mess here, as figuring out which web sites are really Canon and which may be other folks spoofing Canon is not clear.
